Directors General of Civil Aviation arrive at ICAO HQ for safety programme

At the occasion of the opening of the seventh delivery of the ICAO-SAA Programme on Aviation Safety for Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCAs) on Wednesday, Directors General of Civil Aviation from around the world were welcomed to ICAO HQ by the Secretary General, Dr. Fang Liu.
A high-level training course for newly-appointed DGCAs, the programme is the result of consultations with DGCAs at the 2013 ICAO Assembly and partnership with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and the Singapore Aviation Academy (SAA).
“Our shared goal was to bring together all the essential elements so that you could be as effective and knowledgeable as possible when taking up your new duties,” Dr. Liu explained to the participants, who will attend presentations by former DGCAs, Deputy DGCAs, ICAO experts and CAAS experts regarding the modern aviation safety framework and the practical aspects of its effective implementation in their countries.
Dr. Liu also took the opportunity to thank the SAA and Mr. Kevin Shum, Director-General of the CAAS, for their generous contributions to the development and deployment of the programme.
