Islander damaged on landing at interior airstrip
A Britten Norman Islander belonging to Air Services Limited (ASL) on Wednesday morning ran off the edge of the Kopinang airstrip, damaging the landing gears and undercarriage in the process.
The aircraft registered 8R-GAR was under the command of Captain Azam Ally who was carrying one passenger.
The plane was shuttling food and other supplies from Mahdia to Kopinang when the runway excursion happened.
The airstrip is currently being repaired and was waterlogged at the time due to rainy conditions.
No injuries were reported and a preliminary assessment has revealed that repairs would take at leas four days.
