Airworthiness Inspectors from the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) on Friday completed the inspection of all Cessna Caravans based at the Eugene F. Correia International Airport, Ogle following their grounding earlier in the week.
Director General of the GCAA, Lt. Col. (Ret’d) Egbert Field, upon receipt of the findings by the inspectors, lifted the suspension giving the operators the green light to continue using the Caravans.
On Wednesday January 16, the left main landing gear of a Caravan owned and operated by Air Services Limited collapsed while being loaded at the Ogle Airport. The Director General issued the suspension in the interest of safety for the flying public.
Field promised to conduct more in-depth inspection of these aircraft at a later date.
The Cessna Caravan is the workhorse of the local aviation sector.
