Kalashnikov unveils new ‘suicide’ drone

Kalashnikov, the Russian company which manufactures the AK-47 assault rifle, unveiled a new “suicide” drone at a defense exhibition in Abu Dhabi.

The miniature exploding drone dubbed KUB-UAV was on display at the defense exhibition where global arms companies display their latest technological inventions.

The manufacturer claims that the four feet wide drone could revolutionize combat similar to its AK-47 in the second half of the twentieth century. The drone is designed to destroy remote ground targets.

“This complex is a step towards completely new combat operations,” said Sergey Chemezov, Rostec CEO, in a statement from Kalashnikov. “High-precision unmanned projectile flies up to 30 minutes at the speed of 130 kilometers (80.7 miles) per hour.”

Kalashnikov says that the drone has already been tested and is ready for use. Some of its advantages include hidden launch, overall accuracy of shot, noiselessness, affordability and ease of handling.
