WOW Air commences worldwide cargo operations

WOW air Cargo announced the commencement of worldwide cargo operations from its US base in West Virginia. The airline said that their Martinsburg’s 100 000 sq.ft. hangar and warehouse will be used for global dispatch operations.

WOW plans to connect different regions and continents within a single network dedicated to deliver cargo from all over the world.

The carrier is under new ownership after ceasing operation on March 28, 2019 when it failed to find a financial backer. Wow Air, founded in 2011, previously operated long-haul service between Europe and North America and also transported more than a third of passengers traveling to Iceland.

Specific plans for the airline remain unclear, but the COVID-19 pandemic has spurred new opportunities for cargo operations.

Virginia-based USAerospace chairman Michele Ballarin purchased the Wow Air brand and associated rights in September 2019 for an undisclosed amount.
