Ambergris Cay, the luxury private island in the Turks and Caicos Islands, just had its airport recertified as an international gateway.
Tucked away in the southern corner of the Turks and Caicos, Ambergris Cay features the longest runway of any private airport in the Caribbean with a length of 5,700 feet.
News of the recertification means that their guests can now fly directly to the private island, bypassing the stop in Providenciales, the main gateway to the islands.
Located less than 3 hours’ flying time from airports on the U.S. East Coast, Ambergris Cay is now easier to access by private plane, making it the perfect choice for the luxury traveler.
The management of Ambergris Cay has designed the airport to make the travel experience seamless from the moment guests touch down on the island.
Immigration, Customs and check-in are relaxing and simple processes with a dedicated butler to ensure that each stay on Ambergris Cay is a personalized and attentive experience.
Ambergris Cay is a unique property that maintains both a natural and serene environment, while also maintaining the highest standards of luxury and service. All gourmet meals and premium drinks are included in the nightly price, as well as resort activities, a 30-minute daily spa treatment per person, and water sports such as kayaking, sailing and snorkeling, bone and reef fishing, use of golf carts, bikes and much more.
The island features a beautifully appointed restaurant for meals, as well as a stunning pool and bar area, should guests want to leave their own private pools for a short while. For the more adventurous explorers, the team will drop guests off for a catered lunch on a deserted island.
Only 3 miles long and largely undeveloped, Ambergris Cay launched in late 2018 with the introduction of ten private, beachfront suites. In 2019, the island added three and four-bedroom luxury villas to the rental choices on the island. These accommodations are extremely popular with families and small groups traveling together and offer the utmost in comfort and privacy.
